1. Red Dead Redemption 2

The much anticipated open world Western is hot on it's hooves to an anticipated released date sometime in June. Stepping into the boots of Arthur Morgan, we'll be riding across the vast rugged lands of America with the Van der Linde gang, robbing and stealing to survive. The sequel which is a prequel to the first title is looking glorious, with a big graphical upgrade, the open fields and mountains look straight out of a post card.

2. Far Cry 5

From the old West to modern day America, Far Cry 5 drops us in the middle of a war between an emerging cult and a rag tag bunch of resistance fighters in Montana. Expect plenty of natural wonders and man made disasters to be found in this gorgeous open world action game. From the peaceful serene farmlands to the fever pitched gun fights, this game feels like a Nascar rally, explosive excitement at every corner.

3. Monster Hunter World

Monster Hunter is back and roaring louder than ever with it's latest iteration, Monster Hunter World. Launching on both PlayStation 4 (26 Jan) and PC (fall 2018), this version looks to be one of the biggest advancements in the series with a new story, lusher environments and of course, bigger and badder monsters. Not only does the world feel and act more natural with the removal of loading screens and environmental hazards, drop-in and drop-out co-operative play makes for more exciting hunts as well.

4. Anthem

Anthem is BioWare's latest entry for 2018, showcasing cool Iron Man like armored suits, a vast open world and dynamic events like the mysterious Shaper Storms bring together an impressive looking package. The 2017 E3 game play also revealed loot drops and hidden areas to explore from underwater ravines to alien like cave structures. Despite the turmoil we had with Mass Effect: Andromeda, lets hope this one not only looks better, but also plays better.

5. Marvel's Spider-Man

Our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man makes his modern day debut for the PlayStation 4 during the Paris Games Week. Sporting a very sleek looking suit and marvelous (pun intended) powers and gadgets, this latest Spidey looks to deliver not only a cooler looking wall crawler but also a more robust and exciting game play to go with it. A gorgeous looking city space to swing around it and exciting encounters make this game a real stand out for 2018. Look out, here comes the Spider-Man!

6. Darksiders III

Back from the dead, Darksiders III breaths life anew with developers Gunfire Games. Previously due to THQ going bankrupt, the franchise seemed doomed to never return, but things can come back, bigger and better. Along with the new character Fury, the environments and look too have reintroduced the hellspawn infested city in a creepier and darker way that ups the tone of the world then its predecessors

7. Days Gone

Days Gone puts us in a world rife with a different kind of undead and humanity having to survive through the post-apocalyptic world. A dynamic weather system and day-night cycle, adds cool game play effects, such as making enemies weak and slow during the day-time but fast and aggressive during the night. This makes for a very naturally evolving game world and amplifies the immersiveness of the world with beautiful scenery and environments.

8. Metro Exodus

Developed by Ukrainian Malta-based studio, 4A Games, Metro: Exodus is the third installment in the series that is based of Dmitry Glukhovsky's novels. Set in 2036, a nuclear war has devastated the world, we travel with Artyom as he flees Moscow and makes his way to the far east with the Spartan Rangers across desolate and dangerous lands filled with mutated abominations and natural hazards. The iconic dark and dangerous Metro lines are back with even more things that go bump in the dark and with the much improved graphics and lighting effects you'll be clinging on to your precious ammo a lot tighter, just in case.

9. Detroit: Become Human

Detroit: Become Human continues in the enthralling and captivating story telling style of Quantic Dream. With an overacrhing plot that revolves around three androids, the way the story unfolds in based entirely on the player's decisions. Characters may perish or survive and the outcome of the game's ending will reflect on every choice made. Made on an entirely new engine, if the story doesn't hook you, the look of the world will definitely keep your eyes glued to the screen with it's neo sci-fi look and the gorgeous looking facial capture really brings the characters emotions to life.

10. The Last Of Us Part II

Picking up about five years after the first game, Naughty Dog continues the tale of Joel and Ellie in the bleak world of zombies in The Last Of Us Part II. Contrasting with the theme of love in the first installment, the sequel centers more on hate and from the trailer, it seems as though Ellie will be exploring quite a bit of that. The first one explored all four seasons with gorgeous looking forests, deserted cities and tense, dark moments with the undead, we can expect more of that in the sequel.
